The main objective of this paper was to investigate the dewatering behaviour of a clayey uranium ore slurry. The slurry (containing 28% clay size) exhibited moderate water adsorption (w l = 83% and w p = 30%). Primarily composed of muscovite (46%) and quartz (30%), the clay minerals included illite (8%), chlorite (5%) and kaolinite (2%) alongside a CEC of 41 (cmol(+)/kg) with Ca2+ and Mg2+ as the dominant cations. Likewise, the high EC (17,600 μS/cm) and ionic strength (1.15 mol/L) indicated a flocculated microstructure due to the presence of SO4 2? (22,600 mg/L) and Mg2+ (1340 mg/L) in the slurry water. Settling included sedimentation and consolidation at low initial solids condition (25–35%) whereas only consolidation was observed at high initial solids contents (40–50%). The average k reduced from 1.2 × 10?6 m/s (initial s = 25%) to 5.3 × 10?8 m/s (initial s = 50%) along with a void ratio reduction from 7.4 to 2.6. Due to thixotropic strength, volume compressibility during consolidation showed apparent pre-consolidation at low effective stress (0.3–2 kPa) with a reduction in void ratio from 2.6 to 2.5. The e s was found to be 2.46 at σ′ = 2 kPa and was followed by a steeper slope with the void ratio reducing to 2.1 at σ′ = 31 kPa. Likewise, the hydraulic conductivity during consolidation decreased from 2.6 × 10?9 m/s (at e = 2.6) to 2.0 × 10?10 m/s (at e = 2.1). 相似文献

A three dimensional rectangular grid model is applied to resolve the temperature–salinity dynamics of Ruwais, a segment of the UAE coast which is well known as dense water formation zone. The model employs a heat flux module and a turbulence closure scheme that facilitate realistic calculation of temperature–salinity dynamics. A field survey campaign is carried out to support the modeling study, involving measurements of tide, currents, temperature, and salinity. Investigation is done for two meteorologically extreme conditions, i.e. summer and winter. The model study showed that the western flux develops an anticlockwise circulation in the study area. The water industrial discharges elevated the temperature and salinity of the water near the southeastern shoreline. This water mass propagated towards north under the influence of gravity. 相似文献

A unified picture of the photodissociation of theC
2
H radical has been developed using the results from the latest experimental and theoretical work. This picture shows that a variety of electronic states ofC
2 are formed during the photodissociation of theC
2
H radical even if photoexcitation accesses only one excited state. This is because the excited states have many avoided corssings and near intersections where two electronic states come very close to one another. At these avoided crossings and near intersections, the excited radical can hop from one electronic state to another and access new final electronic states of theC
2 radical. The complexity of the excited state surfaces also explains the bimodal rotational distributions that are observed in all of the electronic states studied. The excited states that dissociate through a direct path are limited by dynamics to produceC
2 fragments with a modest amount of rotational energy, whereas those that dissociate by a more complex path have a greater chance to access all of phase space and produce fragments with higher rotational excitation. Finally, the theoretical transition moments and potential energy curves have been used to provide a better estimate of the photochemical lifetimes in comets of the different excited states of theC
2
H radical. The photochemically active states are the 22+, 22II, 32II, and 32+, with photodissociation rate constants of 1.0×10–6, 4.0×10–6, 0.7×10–6, and 1.3×10–6s–1, respectively. These rate constants lead to a total photochemical lifetime of 1.4×105 s. 相似文献

Introduction Northern Pakistan is one of the seismically active regions in the world. Numerous studies have been undertaken to highlight and understand the ongoing collisional process of the Indo-Pakistan plate with the Kohistan island arc. Besides the N-S compression, as a result of the con-vergence, transpressional features have also been recognized. However, in the studied area pres-ence of evaporites (Eocambrian) has led to the development of duplex type models with the basal decollemen… 相似文献

In this paper, we found some new anisotropic charged models admitting generalized polytropic equation of state with spherically symmetry. An analytic solution of the Einstein–Maxwell field equations is obtained through the transformation introduced by Durgapal and Banerji (Phys. Rev. D 27:328, 1983). The physical viability of solutions corresponding to polytropic index \(\eta =1/2\), \(2/3\), 1, 2 is analyzed graphically. For this, we plot physical quantities such as radial and tangential pressure, anisotropy, speed of sound which demonstrated that these models achieve all the considerable physical conditions required for a relativistic star. Further, it is mentioned here that previous results for anisotropic charged matter with linear, quadratic and polytropic equation of state can be retrieved. 相似文献

Radon and its progeny have been recognized as one of the major contributors to the natural radiation and health hazards in
the human dwellings. Even lung cancer is expected if it is present in enhanced levels beyond maximum permissible limit. This
paper reports the measurements of indoor radon and its progeny in the urban dwellings of the Etah district of Uttar Pradesh
province in Northern India using the cellulose nitrate (LR-115 type-II) plastic track detectors. It is found that the values
of radon concentration vary from 3.52 to 248.64 Bq m−3 with a standard deviation of 69.19. The values of radon progeny concentration vary from 0.38 to 26.88 mWL with a standard
deviation of 7.48. The effective dose has been calculated and found to vary from 0.05 to 3.76 mSv year−1 with a standard deviation of 1.05. The lifetime fatality risk is found to vary from 0.04 × 10−4 to 2.90 × 10−4. The results have been compared with the results reported in the rural areas of the same district. 相似文献

The e-CALLISTO system is a worldwide network that aims to observe solar radio emission for astronomical science. CALLISTO instruments have been deployed worldwide in various locations that together can provide continuous observation of the solar radio spectrum for 24 h per day year-round. Malaysia-UKM is a strategic equatorial location and can observe the Sun 12 h per day. This paper gives an overview of the spectrum allocation for radio astronomy, which falls in the specified operating frequency band of the CALLISTO spectrometer. The radio astronomy bands are analyzed at the Malaysia-UKM station according to the International Telecommunication Union recommendations. Some observational results are also presented in this paper. 相似文献

Radon, thoron, and their progeny are largest contributors to the radiation dose received by human beings present in the natural environment. The indoor radon depends upon many factors such as building materials, meteorology, ventilation, and occupant’s behavior. This paper presents the measurements of indoor radon, thoron, and their progeny in four villages in rural area of district Kanshiram Nagar (Kasganj) in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Northern India. The concentration of indoor radon and thoron varies from 10.32 to 72.24 and 11.61 to 84.49 Bq m?3 with a geometric mean (GM) of 29.49 and 31.20 Bq m?3, respectively. The concentration of radon and thoron daughters was found to vary from 1.11 to 7.80 and 0.31 to 2.28 mWL, respectively. The annual exposure due to radon and thoron mainly vary from 0.05 to 0.30 WLM. The preliminary results (i.e., bare mode exposure of the LR-115 detectors fixed on cards) of this study have been separately published and compared this recent data with those results. 相似文献
